Rationality and performance of government on financing higher education in Iran

Higher education is subsidized by the state in almost all countries, including Iran. Why? The aim of this article is to answer this question and review the government performance on financing higher education in Iran. The results of an exploratory study show that the state subsidizes higher education for a variety of reasons, including the failure of the market to financing higher education, having a full social benefits, imperfect capital markets, equal distribution of education opportunities and redistribution of income and wealth. The survey results of state performance to higher education show that in Iran, state not only does not apply an appropriate method of financing higher education, but also considerably has declined their actual subsidy to higher education during the last decade. If this trend continues, it will lead to undermine the efficiency, effectiveness, fairness and balance in the Iran’s higher education economy

The purpose of the present research is to investigate the Co-authorship amount of Tehran University Authors in Islamic World Science Citation Center Between 2002-2011. The present research is a scientometric, applied, descriptive and non-experimental study. In this study, no sampling is applied for selecting the authors of Tehran University, their articles and also all the cases are investigated one by one. The present research not only demonstrates scientific cooperation of Tehran University authors but also it determines collaboration of indexing of these authors in each of 8 subject fields, and growth rate of collaboration based on author/institute indicator. The result of findings of the study showed that in spite of increasing in scientific productions of Tehran University in each year, the growth rate of single author articles is decreasing while the growth rate of multiple author articles is increasing proves the collaboration enhancement and scientific cooperation among Tehran University Authors.

The aim of this study was to identify the extent that students have the entrepreneurial knowledge, ability, attitude, and creativity and after identification some recommendations were presented to improve entrepreneurship in higher education. The method of this research was descriptive; in term of aim, it is classified as applied research. Research population is consisted of 335 Masters Students from the Universities of Esfahan and Zanjan that were selected through random sampling. To collect data, researcher-made questionnaires were used. For analyzing the data of research descriptive and inferential statistical methods were used (T-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test). Results indicated that all four components of entrepreneurship are in the low level, unfavorable and are in similar situation that suggests need for more active efforts of faculty and staff in all areas relevant to the study.

The aim of this study was to evaluate Rural Development Management Department of Yasouj University based on Internal Evaluation (IE) approach. Evaluation elements and criteria were selected and categorized in six groups: head of department, faculty members, non- faculty members, students, curriculum, and equipment. These criteria were evaluated by faculty members and students using SWOT model in some focusing group interviews. The results showed that the supposed department is relatively good at "head of department" and "faculty members", moderate at "curriculum", and weak in terms of "students" and "equipment". Based on these results, some recommendations are presented in the paper to the responsible bodies, i.e. Rural Development Management Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Yasouj University and Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

The aim of this study is to predict the trend of critical thinking based on epistemological beliefs and classroom psychosocial climate of the student in Yazd University. Method: This study was a type of descriptive-correlation and statistical population consisted of Yazd University students who are in the Faculty of Humanities, Science and Engineering. That with the random-cluster sampling method 120 students (63 girls and 57 boys) were selected for the sample. Participants answered to critical thinking disposition of Ricketts, epistemological of Schommer and classroom psychosocial climate’s questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using synchronic regression test and t-test were analyzed by using SPSS 22 software. Results: The results of findings showed that there are significant and negative correlation between epistemological beliefs and critical thinking dispositions. Also the t-test results indicate gender difference in the discipline (p > 0/05). Conclusion: this study showed that epistemological beliefs predict the critical thinking disposition but classroom psychosocial climate is not the predictor to critical thinking disposition.

One of the important roles of faculty is training students as those who are wise, analyst and critical thinkers, not to move knowledge and skills to novice consumers, only. In this research, the problem is the lack of enough information and skills about critical thinking among most of the university faculty, which causes them not to teach critical thinking to the students, effectively. The purpose of this study is providing an appropriate framework and some strategies to improve educational programs in the universities to foster the students' critical thinking. This is an applied research. The data collection method is documentary method and the research method is descriptive-analytical one. According to the study, four fundamental steps were introduced to foster the student’s critical thinking and some strategies were offered for each of these steps in details.

Cheating is one of common unmoral phenomenon in the educational systems which has increasingly facilitated and propagated through advancement. Its main aim is studying the difference between the cheating rate in the non–paper and paper examinations. The research method is measurement and data were collected using questionnaire. The research statistical university includes the whole Payame Noor University, Dezful center students in 2013–2014 which 357 individuals of them were chosen as sample through random categorized method. The data were analyzed using SPSS 19 software. t test results (4.259) show the cheating in computerized (without paper) exams is more than paper ones. Also, there is no relationship among gender and committing or non-committing cheat regarding to Chi-square (0.103) test and significance level. Also, there is a significant relationship among age and committing or non-committing cheat with significance level (0.021) and Chi-square test (14.88). Regarding to higher education advancement and widespread acceptance of the students it is proposed that acceptance of students should be based on the specified scientific competence. If the matter is considered, the cheating rate will decreased in the universities
