important in the economic literature. In a simple economic model, labor demand and supply determine the equilibrium in this market. However, there is always the question that how do people find their favorite jobs, especially ones which are related to their educational, personal and cultural characteristics? On the other hand, how are the labor market capacities and needs and in other words its demands identified and how are the job seekers informed about this? The present study aimed at analyzing the features of the demand side of the Yazd labor market i.e., higher educated job seekers during the Third Development Plan. The job seekers only registered through one of the formal ways, that is, registered in Yazd labor and social
affairs offices. Also the paper tried to investigate the possibility of finding jobs for higher educated job seekers compared to those without higher education degrees. The data was collected using a questionnaire and the conditions of job seekers were analyzed in terms of different variables using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the proportion of the employed people with university degrees compared to those without such education. This means that higher education could not increase the possibility of finding jobs.
