This study aimed at carrying out the process of internal Evaluation of the Department of architecture in Sarian nonprofit and nongovernmental institute as well as a comprehensive analysis of the current quality of the department. It also offered some suggestions in order to improve and promote its status. Data was collected out of a community of 550 people consisting of six subcommunities. The research instrument was composed of researchermade questionnaire, interview and checklist. Validity and reliability were desirable (Between 87% and 93%). In this study, seven
factors were applied for internal evaluation: objectives, organizational status, administration and organization (6 criteria and 22 indexes), faculty member (6 criteria and 14 indexes), student (4 criteria and 8 indexes), learning and teaching process (3 criteria and 9 indexes), educational courses and curriculum (4 criteria and 28 indexes), research–educational equipment and facilities (4 criteria and 10 indexes), graduates (2 criteria and 3 indexes). The results showed that: objectives and organizational status were relatively desirable factors. Administration and organization were desirable. Faculty member was relatively desirable. The student factor was relatively desirable. Teaching and learning process was relatively desirable. Educational courses and curriculum was desirable. The educational equipment and facilities factor was relatively desirable. The graduates factor was relatively desirable. Generally speaking, the status of the department was relatively desirable but there were some shortcomings concerning some indicators for which some suggestions were presented. On the basis of the presented model in this research and the results of internal evaluation, clear and exact objectives to plan group development were compiled. Also a new model to show how to use the objectives in the process of internal evaluation was presented.
